Petits Anges de Chantal orphanage is located in the Delmas district of Haiti's capital, Port au Prince. It is named for the town of Chantal, in Southern Haiti, where Marie is from. The orphanage (creche) occupies a large, walled-in corner lot which also contains director Marie France's home. The kids are free to come down from the creche, play in the courtyard, and have free access to the home. Please get a lot of your FAQ's answered with Marie's Welcome Letter. Our upcoming FAQ page talks more about the Haitian culture, the orphanage, and why "things are the way they are." We formed the FAQ from common questions that new members of our yahoo group ask.

WE ALSO NOW HAVE A BLOG, IT'S A GREAT WAY TO PEEK INTO LIFE AT PAC!

Here is what a recent IBESR inspection found:

As many of you know IBESR inspects the orphanages and provides them with the licensing they need to legally operate. Inspections are unannounced and can occur at anytime. Both PAC 1 and PAC 2 have recenty been inspected, and of course passed with flying colors. During this inspection IBESR, UNICEF, and a child advocate were all present. They evaluated both O’s for cleanliness, staff ratios, size and room for the children, activities for the children, meals, medical care, etc.. They even went so far as to interview three of the older children (Sonson, Louveline, and Maudeline) to assess their experiences of living at PAC. They asked the children questions like, Are you ever hungry?, Do you have fun here? Do you feel safe? The children gave complete praise in all their answers of Marie, their nannies, and PAC.

IBESR went so far as to say that they were “proud” of Marie’s orphanage and that they wish all could be so good. They said that even after only 4 years of running an O she is doing a better job than some that have been around for 20+ years. They also stated that the O was not overcrowded and had room for additional children, had 9 nannies at PAC 2 for at the time 37 kids (now 40). It is because of this good standing with IBESR that Marie is called by them directly to take in additional children in need of care. They know that by placing children with Marie they will be well cared for.

Petits Anges has been a functioning orphanage for 4 years. To date (Fall, 2007), 12 children have gone home to their forever families, with 5 more due to go home this year. Marie maintains 2 buildings, one for the older children and the other creche in her home for those in diapers, or for kids who need special care. Please visit the Children Page to see the kids currently available for adoption.

The orphanage is directly across the street from Wall's International Guesthouse, a favorite haunt of many adoptive parents. You can contact Granny Bin for more information regarding the "Granny Bin Adoption Progress Report," and the birth family biographical service called "This is Your Life." These are invaluable for the adoptive parents.

Please help your coordinator (and new mom) afford her trip to PAC! (she's a bit broke but has lots of work to do in Haiti!)

Use this button to donate to PAC, for essentials like diapers, formula, medicines, and other necessities that are expensive in Haiti. Check out our coming soon blog to see how much was collected for each trip and what was purchased!

NOTE Even though paypal page will say "payments processed for Snapaholics", which is my main online business, the monies for PAC will be separated out, until I set up a separate account for PAC. I'm not out buying hair bling with PAC money!

Note: We are not yet a non-profit organization, so this donation is not tax-deductible. It will just make you feel good inside!
